Customize your Eco-Adventure to the Rainforest
Families and friends can choose their own dates and specify which activities they want included in their Eco-Adventure. Our trips to Costa Rica include tropical conservation and wildlife photography, but can focus on your special interests whether birding, orchids, sustainability, etc. All trips have a built-in contribution to the MCLUS. They are not luxury trips as we stay parttime deep in the forest in a biological field station in the BEN/Children’s Eternal Rain Forest. But the view of Volcan Arenal from the porch and the opportunities for wildlife sighting are wonderful! There is considerable hiking on forest trails and possibility of getting rained on. It’s a rainforest!
You may customize your field trip to suit the academic and/or adventure needs of your students. The length of your trip is up to you. We can make suggestions and offer excellent biologists, naturalists, para-taxonomists as guides. Night hikes, solos, journal keeping all enrich the experience. Endemic species and photo ops abound. Tree planting and trail maintenance service projects add to the experience. Students feel invested in the forest when they help. We want our visitors to learn about this forest with their heads, but also to feel for this forest with their hearts.
Rachel and Dwight Crandell are the trip leaders, but they draw on the expertise of local scientists and naturalists in the field. Look at the two week trip offering for ideas that we could include or enlarge for you.
